November is World Vegan Month, so we thought it would be a perfect time to check back in with some of our favorite plant-based dishes in and around Green Bay. We may not be the destination most people think of when they think of vegan food, but our chefs really can do amazing things. Of course, salads are always a go-to option but we wanted to pull together a list that didn’t include salads to prove to you that we can really step it up for our vegan friends!
So, here’s a roundup of our current vegan obsessions!
Vegan Cheez Delight from Glass Nickel Pizza
This delicious specialty pizza is piled with tangy BBQ sauce, broccoli, pineapple, red pepper, red onion, garlic, and a melty layer of vegan “cheese.” Each bite brings a sweet, savory, and smoky experience that makes it a must-try for plant-based eaters visiting Green Bay.
Veggie Sandwich from Lox, Stock ‘n Bagel
If you’ve never had a bagel sandwich from Lox, Stock ‘n Bagel, you are in for a treat. The Veggie Sandwich comes with tomato, spinach, cucumber, red onion, green pepper, avocado, roasted red peppers, and vinaigrette. All sandwiches are served with a bag of chips and a pickle or a banana.
Berbere Spice Sweet Potato Bowl from FreshKind
A nourishing blend of ancient grains forms the base of this bowl, which is then topped with roasted sweet potato, carrot, broccoli, dried cranberries, apple, radish, and brussels sprouts. The bowl is then drizzled with a spiced berbere vinaigrette. Feel free to add extra toppings, too. Just ask them which options are vegan!
Aloo Mattar from Taste of India
Taste of India’s Aloo Mattar is a warm, comforting mix of tender potatoes and green peas simmered in a lightly spiced sauce. This dish is also gluten-free and pairs beautifully with their vegan roti or poori. It’s a perfect option for a flavorful, satisfying meal and we promise, you won’t be missing the meat or the dairy one bit.
Rabbit Sandwich from Kavarna
Kavarna has many vegan items, but we especially love this one. The Rabbit Sandwich is served on Great Harvest Oregon Herb toast and contains English cucumber, tomato slices, Heritage Blend mixed greens, and house dressing. If you’re jonesing for a wrap, they have three different kinds of vegan tofu wraps and a hummus salad wrap!
Chocoholic Smoothie Bowl from Bona Fide Juicery
It’s not too often vegans get a chance to indulge in chocolate, but this is a delicious exception! This smoothie bowl is made with vegan chocolate protein, banana, cacao, and almond milk. For toppings, this bowl comes with granola, banana, dairy-free chocolate chips, and chia (skip the honey or swap it with nut butter instead).
The Beyond Smash Burger from Bay Area Burger Co.
In the mood for a big ‘ol burger? You don’t have to give up on flavor when you stop in at Bay Area Burger Co. or as they like to refer to it, the Upscale “Smashstaurant” in Downtown Green Bay. Just ask your server which toppings and bun options are made without dairy to ensure a vegan-friendly burger experience!
Ratatouille from A’Bravo Bistro
A’Bravo Bistro’s Ratatouille is a delightful mix of roasted eggplant, summer squash, red pepper, and tomato, all simmered in a rich red wine tomato sauce. Topped with fresh basil olive oil and spring greens, this dish offers a beautifully layered, rustic flavor that celebrates seasonal veggies.
Curry Chickpea Bowl from The Farmacy
This nourishing bowl features a base of quinoa topped with creamy chickpea curry mash, fresh arugula, pickled red onion, carrots, and cabbage, all drizzled with a hint of honey mustard. Prefer a twist? Try it as a quesadilla for a delicious spin on this plant-based favorite!
As you can see, Green Bay has a lot to offer our vegan visitors! We hope we’ve inspired you to try something new during World Vegan Month, or really, any time of year. Tag us in your food photos with the hashtag #LoveGB so we can see what you’re eating!
